1. Subject: Which stream in engineering?

Dear Sir/Madam,

2. OR BE Electronics from other colleges
3. or do BE Electronics under management quota ( by paying a huge fee ) from RV College.
What are career chances? Please help. Thank you.

2. Subject: After 12th BCA or MBA?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a 19 year old boy from Jaipur. I did my 12th with Commerce+Informatic Practices. I scored 80% marks in aggregate. I am interested in going for career in IT and there after some other course like CA or MBA. I wish to ask you the following:
  1. Is it safe for me to do BCA instead of B.Com?
  2. Is it possible to go for CA or MBA even after passing BCA?
  3. Is it true that the IT industry is not that safe as it was earlier?(before recession)
  4. What are the job prospects for MCA cum CA or MCA cum MBA?
  5. What jobs can I get immediately after doing BCA?
  6. What is the average stipend that one should expect after doing MCA from a reputed institute like Birla Institute Of Technology, Mesra?
Thank you.

  1. If you want to do CA, go for B.Com.
  2. MBA requires graduation and BCA is graduation.
  3. IT industry is in to its difficulties. And shall remain in such condition for 2 - 3 years.
  4. MCA is enough to get you IT jobs. MCA + MBA in fact reduces your IT jobs prospects.
  5. Yes
  6. 7 K to 15 K

3. Subject: Query whether to pursue M.E. or MBA?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have recently completed my BE in computers. Now I am in great confusion whether to take MBA or ME. My knowledge in computers is of average level though I have scored 79%. I feel that I do very well in GD and seminars, paper presentations. So I wanted to go for MBA. But if I start my preparation now, is it enough to go for CAT 2003 Nov. Please clear this and also convey what are qualities that an MBA aspirant should have. Waiting for your reply. Thank you.

Energy, zeal to meet people, Relationship manager, a taste for the overall rather than one item focus. Don't join MBA because you have not done well in computers. I feel you should stabilize your computers knowledge and do M.Tech, unless you feel you have exhausted your zeal for computers and can not do better.

4. Subject: Scope of Maths Hon?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I want to know what is the scope of doing BA(H) Maths? Is this course better than B.Sc(H) Statistics? What is the difference between a BA(H) Maths and B.Sc(H) Maths degree? I don't want to study physics and chemistry and so don want to go for B.Sc(H) Maths. I hope this won't have any problem in future. Please tell me all areas where I can get into after Maths Hons and what is the scope of this course? Thank you.

Maths with MCA is a good combination. Statistics with MCA is also there. Of course, you can try MBA from IIMs and other reputed institutes. Scope is only for good persons who keep looking for opportunities.

5. Subject: Will it be wise to opt for E&C in a Private Engineering College?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have cleared my entrance exam for a private college in noida. I have opted for electronics and communication branch. I am actually worried about the future prospects as everyone today is running after this branch. After 4 years what would be the position of electronics market. I am very confused. Please help. Thank you.

Scope of private college passouts is any way less. So be prepared for rush. Private will any way create difficulties as employers will prefer IITs Top colleges, RECs, State Colleges, Other top colleges and then newly coming private colleges. Studies also matter. Student quality also matters. Things are tough any ways.

Take a branch that interests you or the one you are naturally good at to beat any kind of competition and not one that will have scope. There is always space for one more good person in a company.

7. Subject: What after 12th B.Sc or B.Com?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have completed my 12th with 72%. I was trying for Merchant Navy as a Deck Cadet, but I couldn't make it. What should I do now, B.Com or B.Sc. Please help me. Thank you.

If I say do B.Sc and you take that course, or if I say, do B.Com and you take that course, then you have a severe problem and must consult psychological counselors.

You should be able to scientifically draw out parameters and evaluate on facts rather than fiction or streches of imagination. Evaluate your interest, capability of handling and scoring the course, go in to depth of each subject's coverage. Its not a wish list that you would like to achieve. You need to be true to your self and take things after you have seen your self in the analytical mirror.

8. Subject: Choice of Engineering College?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have cleared the west bengal joint entrance for engineering this year through which I can take admission in RECs with my rank. However I am thinking of dropping a year and attempting IITJEE once more which I could not clear this year due to inadequate preparation. Would it be better to join a REC or try IITJEE once more after preparing well for one year? Thank you.

Take REC now. One is not sure of the future. While one may hope for the best one does not really know what may click. I would have been in a better position if you had sent me your marks in Maths from class 4 onwards, Physics and chemistry in Board exams, your rank in class from class 8 and many other factors.

Remember, bird in hand ...

If you do well in college, in job after entering the organization actual performance only matters
