| Answer: Aeronautical or aerospace engineering deals with any airborne equipment. It could be an aircraft, a helicopter, a satellite vehicle, an ornithopter or even a hot air balloon. It deals with the design and manufacturing of these vehicles. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Mumbai, Madras, Kanpur and Kharagpur offer M.Tech in the subject in addition to Ph.D. programmes.
Avionics is a part of aerospace engineering, which is an elective subject in B.E./ B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering. It is a specialisation dealing with electronics and electrical-related works of airborne equipment. Simply speaking, the multitude of controls one sees in a cockpit fall in the sphere of avionics. Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology ( www.snist.com) in Hyderabad offers this course in collaboration with the U.S.-based Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology. The courses offered as B.S. Airlines Management, B.S. Airport Management and B.S. Electronics Engineering (Avionics option)
