| Answer: Media law covers an area of law which involves media, and stretches over various legal fields.
As the popularity of media became wide-spread, the field of media law became more popular, as certain corporate professionals wanted to participate in media, which was a riskier career choice. As a result, many young lawyers fledged into media law which allowed them the opportunity to increase connections in media, and the opportunity to become a media presenter or an acting role if such an opportunity arose. Your legal career as a media lawyer is likely to involve the following areas of law: contract, human rights, malicious falsehood, breach of confidence, copyright, contempt of court, defamation, and intellectual property law, among others. You can specialise in music, film, online media, computer games, the book industry or television. Your legal career could require you to socialise with clients, but this is likely to only happen at a fairly advanced stage in your legal career. Often you will not meet the client at all. However, it will hugely help your legal career in media law if you have a good grasp of what the media industry involves. In fact, this is very much required if you want your legal career to be successful. An interest in music, film or computer games is required. This field is quite an upcoming one. You can very well enter it in order make a solid career base. Media law is a fascinating area, and presents unique legal challenges. It is a fast-moving area of law, as means of communications increase and the influence of the media becomes ever more globalised.
