Sound Engineering courses are offered as P.G.Diploma courses after graduation. The Film and Television Institute of India, an autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, offers a three-year postgraduate diploma course in Audiography and one-year postgraduate certificate course in Audiography and TV engineering having 12 and 8 seats respectively. Entry qualification is bachelors degree with physics as a subject at the 10+2 level. Admission is based on an all-India level entrance examination. Sathyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, another autonomous institute under the Government of India, offers a three-year postgraduate diploma course in sound recording (10 seats). Graduates with physics as one of the subjects at the higher secondary level are eligible for admission. Selection is based on and all-India level admission test. Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu, CIT campus, Chennai - 600113 offers a diploma course in sound recording and sound engineering; duration three years; eligibility - a pass in the senior secondary examination with physics and chemistry. In the private sector, SAE Technology College, with headquarters in Chennai and centres at various placesm including Thiruvananthapuram (Jawahar Nagar) conducts a nine-month audio engineering course.
