Question: I have given my class 12 board exams with physics, chemistry, maths and computerscience as my subjects I would like to know whether it is sensible for me to opt for a course in commerce. Is there provision to study CA after graduation

Answer: I won't suggest you to change your stream unless and until it is absolutely necessary as it won't be sensible. Its not that you won't get admission in Commerce related courses, but your aggregate marks would get lessened by 3% if you do so. Suppose you score 80% in your boards exams but if you shift to another stream your aggregate marks would be taken as 77%. Since for the students from non-Commerce Stream the eligibility criteria is:
  • Marks in English/Hindi and three subjects other than languages shall be taken into account, with a handicap of 3% in aggregate.

If you want to do CA you can still go ahead with it after completing your graduation. Or you may enroll yourself in some distance education course along with doing CA right now.

All the best
