A sculptor does not decide on the image to sculpt based on what shape the rock takes when is at the half way mark of his work. On the contrary he as vivid picture in mind of the image he would like to sculpt and then goes about his job. The result he gets the image of his desire. The quality of his output his top class because of

•  Clarity in what he is doing (The Goal)

•  Focused effort, action, enthusiasm and energy to achieve the desired result (The goal directed behaviour)

•  Choosing the image of his desire (The interest)

How many of us sculpt our careers? Most of us complete our education and decided to take a job that comes our way. Most of our job decision is based on size of the company, the designation and the salary. Result, we are frustrated, confused and irritated with what we are doing. Further when we see our acquaintance is much better placed in his career it adds further to the frustration.

"Career sculpting" is a process, which would enable you to act like a sculptor. Through processes and techniques it would enable you to sculpt career of your desire and choice.

Before we jump-start our career sculpting process you have an assignment to do.

A sculptor uses chisel, hammer and the Rock or stone.

As career sculptor you would use a separate exercise book which is equivalent to the rock or stone a pen or pencil which is equivalent to chisel and the powerful self discovered thought which is requirement to the hammer.

In the notebook in the first page paste your photograph and below it write in your favorite colour " A book about my Career". In the next line write your name? Now draw life axis as under:

NOTE: END AGE is the age up to which you would like to involve in meaningful economic activity.

Now using pencil write clearly what you want to achieve in life and your strengths and areas of improvements. We shall revisit your work and work along when we start our first module.
