About Alstom in India

Alstom has established a strong presence in India. Currently, the company is executing metro projects in several Indian cities including Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow where it is supplying Rolling Stock manufactured out its state of the art facility at SriCity in Andhra Pradesh. In the Mainline space, Alstom is executing Signaling Power Supply Systems for the 343 Km. section on World Bank funded Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. Phase 1 in the construction of the new electric locomotive factory for manufacturing and supply of 800 units of 12000HP locomotives is also complete at Madhepura, Bihar while the depot at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh is ready to commence operation. Alstom has set up an Engineering Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and this coupled with a strong manufacturing base as well as localized supply chains, is uniquely positioned to serve customers across the globe.   • Defines and validate the detailed manufacturing process for a new product.
  • Perform industrial documentation for the project, define industrial master data and set the manufacturing method time.
  • In serial phase, drive continuous improvement actions and industrialize product and process changes.
  • Write all the documentation to manufacture the product according RCO standards
  • Ensure the training of the manufacturing workers on critical processes (torque tightening..)
  • Support manufacturing with their day-to-day mounting issues
  • Define the assembly times target of the product
  • Manage all the revisions of the manufacturing documentation and the product configuration

Reports functionally to the PrIM (Project Industrialization Manager)

Key Performance Indicators

  • On time delivery of industrial documentation to manufacturing.
  • On time FAI and Serial Go for his field of activities.
  • Method Time in line with target.
  • Reactivity in the treatment of technical issues met in production.

Responsibilities Accountabilities

During specification and preliminary design phases:

  • Bring ideas to the Process Engineer or the PIM to guide product definition in order to improve the product manufacturability and achieve QCD targets.
  • Participate to the product design reviews when required.
  • Estimate Method Time.

During detailed design phase and before Serial Go:

  • Participate to P-FMEA.
  • Participate to validation of prototypes if any.
  • Request tooling when needed and write tooling specifications.
  • Depending on the domain: perform ERP routings, Work Instructions, Inspection Instructions, program for CNC machines. And this ensuring good EHS and ergonomic conditions.
  • Perform work stations task sequencing.
  • Validate product design and industrialization through FAR and FAI.
  • Calculate precise Method Time.

After serial Go:

  • Support Production to achieve manufacturing QCD targets.
  • Industrialize retrofit after engineering changes: Routings, Work Instructions, and tooling.
  • Participate to continuous improvement workshops. (Ex: SWIP)
  • Contribute to industrial REX on manufacturing processes.


Educational Requirements


  • B.E Electrical/Mechanical /industrial Engineering
  • English read, written, spoken



  • Manufacturing experience, preferably in the railway industry.
  • Technical knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, writing manufacturing work instructions, line balancing.
  • Experience in working with an ERP (such as SAP) for Bill of Materials, Routings, Configuration follow-up
  • Working knowledge in Quality, EHS standards and Ergonomics.
  • Familiar with IS common tools.
  • Process FMEA, QRQC.
  • Time analysis (MTM, MEK, UAS).


  • Experience in working with an ERP (such as SAP) for Bill of Materials, Routings, Configuration follow-up
  • Project management skills ( Planning critical path management)
