Principal Software Research Analyst - Automotive
The Automotive Supply Chain and Technology team at IHS Markit is in search of a senior/principal level researcher into Automotive software knowledge space to be based at our Gurgaon / Bangalore office. The senior/principal analyst will act as a subject matter expert and ideally facilitate all levels of software forecasting and analytics (HMI, Middleware OS, Hypervisor and Firmware) for IVI, Driver information, Connected car and Autonomous vehicles
We have a network of research analysts and subject matter experts located around the world, with ever expanding component and model level forecasts we track the fitment of technologies and components. The main focus of this role is to develop datasets for forecasting and to write research paper/reports of varying length.
Primary Responsibilities:
Primary and secondary research on automotive software with a view to product reports, data and analytics around automotive software
Create an effective automotive software research strategy. Collate, organize and analyse complex data / information to create insight for clients
Produce research reports of varying length, in which specific market developments in the automotive software space are analysed. Support the creation of detailed data sets in which automotive software market structures and trends are analysed.
Leveraging data either already existing or to be gathered and collated to create insight by using logical conclusions and deductions
Track developments in the automotive software strategies and trends
Work with Innovation/software director for regional global forecasting for all levels of software - HMI, Middleware OS, Hypervisor and Firmware for IVI, Driver information, Connected car and autonomous vehicles
Lead projects whenever required; Internal and external client deliverables, Continual Quality improvement and more.
The role is a mix of Individual contribution both in terms of technology assessment, analytics, forecasting and team support for data production and client support.
Primary and secondary research on automotive technology and supply chain to create detailed datasets on future trends forecasting
Track developments in the industry on a regular basis and network with stakeholders in your allocated domain
Work in teams, with deadlines and contribute to team-building efforts
Required Skills Experience:
An expert in the field of automotive software
Minimum of 8-10 years related experience in the automotive software industry in the area of HMI, Middleware and OS, Hypervisor and Firmware in software supplier space or software technology companies or software consultancy companies. Candidates with one of the less domains (IVI, Driver information, Connected car, Autonomous vehicles) will be assessed, however an exposure to HMI, Middleware OS, Hypervisor and Firmware is essential
Proven understanding of vehicle software subsystems and main technology trends in the automotive industry.
Proven understanding of automotive software stack (Media, Radio, Connectivity, HMI, ADAS) and software bus communication interface (MOST, Ethernet, CAN etc.)
Bachelor/Master's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or software engineering or computer science is preferred.
Fluency in spoken and written English
An interest/passion for cars, especially in the area of software driven car is desirable
Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel with strong experience with MACROS, Word and PowerPoint);
Accurate Analytical and Data interpretation skills
Strong motivation and ability to self-organize to achieve difficult targets under tight time constraints
Knowledge of basic database management tools would be preferred, like SQL. And should demonstrate capability to handle large datasets and to liaise with data scientists internally to come up with new datasets.

Highly networked candidates in automotive software and technology or Tier 1 or Tier 2 who in a software development from concept to production will be given preference.
Knowledge of how software partnership agreement for OEMs, Tier 1s and technology companies are formed will be an added advantage.
